X-Plane GPS Configuration Tool

You have three options:

You have selected a computer running Microsoft Windows as your X-Plane platform, and a hardware GPS unit like the Garmin GPSMAP 296 as your GPS device. There are three ways you can put this together.

Use the built in X-Plane feature.

In the X-Plane Settings menu, choose "Joystick & Equipment," then "Equipment", and check the box labeled "... Garmin 196-296 ..." This will send aviation protocol messages to the selected COM port. (X-Plane version 9; may differ in other versions.)
