Garmin 400W/500W Series Trainer.
Newer, 32-bit, GPS simulator software with WAAS capability running on a Windows computer (or a Windows emulator).
This works with both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows.
Garmin 500 Series Trainer.
Older, 16-bit, GPS simulator software running on a Windows computer (or a Windows emulator).
This does not work on 64-bit Windows 7.
(Dear Reader: I'm unsure whether it also fails to run on
64-bit Vista and XP. If you know, please write to me at the contact address at the bottom of
the main xgps page so I can clarify this.)
Real GPS device, such as this
Garmin GPSMAP 296. Must understand aviation protocol over a serial connection.
Moving map software, such as
PocketFMS running on a PDA, or other devices that understand NMEA sentences over a serial connection.
